How long will it take to learn?
A half day or day long workshop will give you a good foundation to start from as will three individual lessons. However, Danny Dreyer, the founder of ChiRunning describes learning the technique as being like learning Yoga or T’ai Chi—something you practice constantly rather than learn in a day, week, or month. A workshop or some lessons is the start of a lifelong learning process. For this reason, it is good to attend workshops or have lessons to ‘top up’ your learning especially when you are just starting to learn ChiRunning.
Is it possible to learn from the book or DVD?
Whilst you can learn the principles from the book and DVD, it is worthwhile attending a workshop or taking individual lessons to check that you have got the technique right. We find it particularly useful to examine video of runners in order to analyze technique.
What will I learn in ChiRunning workshops/lessons and how will it help my running?
You will learn to:-
If I were to take individual lessons how many would I need?
We would recommend booking three one hour lessons initially. Everyone is starting from a different point and learns at different speeds but three lessons is about right for most people. However, one lesson would give a good introduction to the technique. We would also recommend that everyone has ‘top up’ lessons from time to time.
How much do lessons cost?
One to one lessons for ChiRunning or ChiWalking cost £40 per hour.*
Groups of up to three people. The first person pays £40 per hour and up to two more people can come along for £20 per hour each.*
Half day workshop for established groups. We charge £400 for 3 hours and would ask that you provide a venue and invite up to 16 people along. Two qualified instructors will take the workshop which means people get plenty of individual attention.
*An additional charge may also be needed to hire a venue (if you prefer to have your lesson indoors).
