Bridget is a Certified ChiRunning and ChiWalking Instructor and was trained by the founder of ChiRunning, Danny Dreyer. She has been running regularly since the late 80's but has never been able to train consistently due to frequent injuries. A period of running well and feeling fit was always followed by a period of injury then the inevitable work of getting back to fitness. After years of this she was about to give up running for good but wanted to ensure that she had explored all possible options to help her keep running. Hearing people say she ran 'like a windmill' with arms and legs facing outwards rather than forwards convinced her that she had to change her technique if she was to continue running.
Since then she has learned the Pose method of running which helped in some areas but caused problems in other areas. She has also had Alexander Technique lessons which helped but still the injuries persisted.
Finally, she came across ChiRunning and has never looked back. Bridget believes the main benefit of ChiRunning is learning to relax when running and is convinced that this is what has helped her to stay injury free and able to run consistently.
Bridget and Sarah with Danny Dreyer, the founder of ChiRunning
Sarah is a Certified ChiRunniing and ChiWalking Instructor and was also trained by Danny Dreyer. She completed the training in June 2006 on the first Instructor Training course outside of the USA.
Sarah has been a keen runner for a number of years but always found that as she increased her mileage she experienced frequent running injuries. After joining a running club she noticed how pain and injury are often seen as par for the course where running is concerned. Reading an article about ChiRunning in Runner's World was a revelation with it's description of the running technique that would reduce the chances of injury and help to increase efficiency. Sarah bought the book, started to make adjustments to her technique and never looked back. She found that she could run with ease, without discomfort and, most of all, achieve a greater level of relaxation within her running.
Sarah runs up to marathon distance and her favourite race distance is the half marathon.
Bridget and Sarah met at work and by chance discovered that each had a love of running and were each learning the ChiRunning technique. They both feel passionately about the benefits that ChiRunning has to offer and decided to train to be Instructors together. They love teaching ChiRunning and ChiWalking and provide individual lessons and monthly workshops in Leeds.
